At the “Activity Options for Action Plans on Cross-Cutting Issues of Specific Stockholm Convention Articles” webinar (24 February 2026), Therese Karlsson of IPEN presented on awareness raising as a critical component of effective Stockholm Convention implementation, highlighting civil society’s role in monitoring POPs in eggs, plastics, toys, and waste streams to inform policy action.
The webinar, organized by Green Growth Knowledge Partnership (GGKP) as part of the GEF-funded and UNEP-led Global NIP Update Project (GEF ID 10785), showcased how evidence from IPEN studies such as dioxin-contaminated eggs, POPs in recycled plastics and toys, and plastic pellet monitoring can guide stronger action on waste management, exemptions, contaminated sites, and substitution of hazardous chemicals.
