The growing volume of e-waste presents a major challenge for managing persistent organic pollutants (POPs), such as PBDEs and HBCD, commonly found in plastics and components of electronic products. Despite the high value of e-waste plastics, low recycling rates persist due to contamination and material complexity.
This brochure highlights the stakeholders in managing POPs and chemicals of concern (CoC) in the electronics sector. By identifying stakeholders across all stages of the electronics lifecycle, potential sources of POPs and their periods of use, it contributes to the data collection efforts during POPs inventory development and update, and overall development, review and update of National Implementation Plans (NIPs).
