Thank you very much for the invitation and for your continued engagement through GGKP events and webinars. We sincerely appreciate the opportunity to join the Green Forum NIP Update Group under the GEF-funded and UNEP-led Global NIPs Update Project.
On behalf of Zero Waste Management Association Uganda (ZWMAU), we are pleased to confirm our strong interest in participating as active contributors. ZWMAU is deeply engaged in grassroots and policy-level activism aimed at reducing Persistent Organic Pollutants (POPs) and advancing sound chemicals and waste management in Uganda. Our work includes community awareness and capacity building on hazardous waste and POPs risks, advocacy for improved national policies and enforcement aligned with the Stockholm Convention, and promotion of zero-waste, circular economy, and non-burn waste management solutions as alternatives to POPs-generating practices.
Through our activism, we work closely with local communities, civil society organizations, and public institutions to translate National Implementation Plans (NIPs) into practical, on-the-ground action. We also document challenges, lessons learned, and community-driven solutions, which we believe can meaningfully contribute to peer learning within the NIP Update Group and inform future NIP reviews and updates.
We are already registerd on this platform- Green Forum and the NIP Update Group and look forward to actively engaging in discussions, knowledge exchange, and blog contributions. We are also keen to collaborate with other POPs experts to strengthen collective action toward effective implementation of the Stockholm Convention.
Thank you once again for this valuable opportunity. We look forward to contributing our experiences and learning from the global community.
Kind regards,
Zero Waste Management Association Uganda (ZWMAU)
