National Coordination Mechanisms for Robust NIP Implementation
On 13 November 2025 (11:00-12:20 CET), the Green Growth Knowledge Partnership (GGKP), as a part of the GEF-funded and UNEP-led Global NIP Update project (GEF ID 10785), will host a roundtable on “National Coordination Mechanisms for Robust NIP Implementation.”
The session will examine the role of National Coordination Mechanisms (NCMs) in supporting the NIP review and update process– from preparation and consultation through review, endorsement, submission and reporting. It will offer guidance on establishing or strengthening NCMs and explore how they can be leveraged to accelerate effective NIP updates and implementation.
Objectives
- Present the Guidance for Setting a National Mechanism for NIP Review and Update, and Reporting
- Strengthen parties' capacity to establish and sustain effective NCMs for the review, update, endorsement and reporting of NIPs under the Stockholm Convention
- Facilitate the exchange of practical experiences on setting and leveraging NCMs for NIP update and implementation, identifying good practices, and drawing lessons learned from diverse national contexts

- National Focal Points and technical experts involved in NIP development and implementation
- Representatives of Stockholm and Basel Convention Regional Centres
- Members of National Coordination Mechanisms
- UNEP, BRS Secretariat and other GEF-supported project teams working on chemicals and waste
