The first Open-Ended Working Group (OEWG) meeting for the Global Framework on Chemicals (GFC) took place on 24–27 June 2025 at the Convention and Exhibition Centre in Punta del Este, Uruguay. Open to all stakeholders, it gathered representatives from governments, industry, health, labour, academia, and NGOs committed to sustainable chemicals management.

Discussions focused on implementing the Framework’s resolutions, including programmes on highly hazardous pesticides, the GFC Fund, and the Gender Action Plan. Key topics included emerging policy issues, capacity building, and integrating safe and sustainable chemicals management into sectors such as textiles, agriculture, and finance.
