Quality Assurance and Quality Control (QA/QC) for POPs Inventory Data

On 21 November 2024, GGKP will host a webinar on "Quality Assurance and Quality Control (QA/QC) for POPs Inventory Data". The webinar will provide an overview of the major elements of a QA/QC system for POPs inventories (responsibilities, QA/QC plan, quality control, quality assurance, plausibility assessment, and documentation) as well as QA/QC elements for POP monitoring.

The webinar will also introduce participants to the material and substance flow analysis (MFA/SFA) as a tool for QA/QC for plastic and related POPs assessment for improved planning of the management of POP-impacted plastic fractions of major waste/resource sectors.

Objectives

- To introduce the “Short Guidance on Implementing Quality Assurance and Quality Control (QA/QC) for POPs Inventories Data Validation”;

- To give an overview of the major elements of a QA/QC system concerning POP inventories (Responsibilities, QA/QC plan, quality control, quality assurance, plausibility assessment, and documentation;

- To introduce the plausibility assessment of industrial POP inventory data with practical examples; - To provide insights of QA/QC of own measured POPs data including the need for representative sampling of POPs in impacted plastics;

- To introduce material and substance flow analysis (MFA/SFA) as an important tool for QA/QC for plastic and related POPs assessment for improved planning of the management of POP-impacted plastics

Target audience

- Stockholm Convention Official Contact Points and National Focal Points particularly from project countries

- National officials and experts involved in the process of reviewing and updating the NIPs

- Members of the National Statistical Office and similar institutions

- Practitioners working on POPs inventory and management

- Members of NIP National Coordinating Mechanism/ Committees and Project Coordination Units/Thematic Task Groups

- Representatives of Regional Centers and relevant stakeholders.
