Developed jointly by the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) and UPM Umwelt-Projekt-Management GmbH, this Training of Trainers (ToT) program aims to enhance understanding of climate-resilient opportunities in the sanitation sector and promote citywide inclusive sanitation (CWIS) principles in Africa. Module 4 - Introduction of carbon credit projects and carbon market, and eligibility of a sanitation project for the carbon market (Part C)
This interactive exercise helps participants assess their country’s readiness to engage in carbon markets under the Paris Agreement. Working in groups, participants develop country profiles by examining key aspects such as ratification status, enabling legislation, carbon pricing mechanisms, and past project experience under the Kyoto Protocol. The exercise builds understanding of national frameworks and opportunities for developing carbon credit projects in the sanitation sector.
