Developed jointly by the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) and UPM Umwelt-Projekt-Management GmbH, this Training of Trainers (ToT) program aims to enhance understanding of climate-resilient opportunities in the sanitation sector and promote citywide inclusive sanitation (CWIS) principles in Africa. The training underscores the relevance and urgency of integrating climate action into sanitation planning and implementation.
Module 4 - Practical examples of successfully registered sanitation projects
This session presents the Sichuan Rural Poor-Household Biogas Programme of Activities (PoA), one of the world’s largest and most successful Gold Standard and CDM climate initiatives. It aims to explore how the project achieved large-scale greenhouse gas reductions while improving rural livelihoods, sanitation, and energy access for over a million people. The case demonstrates how carbon finance can drive sustainable development, gender equality, and economic opportunities through well-designed sanitation and biogas projects.
