Join the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UN DESA) and UN Women on 8 October at 10am EDT for a Global Policy Dialogue featuring the authors of the recent report "The Progress on the Sustainable Development Goals: The Gender Snapshot 2024." The document provides a comprehensive analysis of the current state of gender equality across all 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and highlights prevailing trends, gaps, and recent setbacks on the journey towards achieving gender equality by 2030.

The GEP Working Group recently celebrated their global launch of two new publications on greening education. One is guidance to teach and learn for climate action; a green curriculum that integrates climate mitigation and adaptation. The other is a quality standard for greening schools for climate action and sustainability, including a definition of what a "green school" is.

Demand growth for green workforce skills is outpacing the increase in supply, as companies and countries globally begin to take action on implementing their climate and sustainability-related commitments, with current trends indicating that there will be more than twice as many jobs requiring green skills as there will be qualified workers available to fill those roles, according to a new study by LinkedIn’s 2024 Global Climate Talent Stocktake.

As a flagship initiative of the European Education Area by 2025 and an essential part of the European Green Deal, the Education for Climate Coalition is part of the European Union’s comprehensive approach to environmental sustainability education. As a community of practice, it enriches both the Council recommendation on teaching and learning for the green transition and sustainable development and GreenComp, the sustainability competence framework, with its participatory approach for taking action on education for climate challenges on the ground.
